Nokia’s external GPS unit

March 19th, 2008

Devin Balentina at The Nokia Guide brings us an exhaustive review of the new Nokia external GPS device, the LD-4W. Examining every aspect in minute detail (would we expect anything else from Devin) he gives it a glowing report.

Considering the in-built GPS in his N95-3 took 3:33 to get a lock, the LD-4W didn’t have much to beat. But it did so in style, finding his position – indoors – in just 23 seconds. That, ladies and gentlemen, is quick. The design gets a mixed review, aesthetically pleasing yet annoyingly scratchable.

For stats fans, Devin provides a table to compare it to its predecessor (the LD-3W), and screengrabs to show its performance next to the N95.

What do you think of the LD-4W? Better than the N95 GPS? Jump over and have your say.
