N95 as a wireless webcam

August 1st, 2007

We’ve let you know about the WWIGO application previously, it’s PC and Symbian based software that turns your N95 or any other Symbian Nseries device into a webcam.

Now the Flint.za has posted that he’s got the N95 running as a wireless webcam, via Bluetooth to his PC which is really cool. Walking around he can wirelessly boardcast to the web and even have webcam chats with friends, as long as he’s in-range of his PC, imagine what you could get up to with a laptop. Jump over to see the video example and comment on the fun.

Can someone not write some software so we can bypass the laptop completely so I can have video to any skype or whatever user directly from my N95?

Yeah, sure… great… but… it doesn’t support my Ferrari Laptop Bluetooth receiver! Odd…

@Vince It didn’t support my DLink Bluetooth dongle either. But it turns out that many of these Bluetooth adapters are completely compatible with Windows’ default drivers with a bit of extra work. If you are comfortable with digging in Windows setup files, then Google around a bit and you’ll find instructions for using the default windows stack instead of whatever proprietary one came with your device.
