That dual LED flash on the N96…

February 15th, 2008

The lack of a Xenon flash on the N96 has been seen as a step-back by some after it reared it’s head on the N82. Symbian Guru Ricky Cadden has tackled this issue head on, by giving his view as to Nokia’s choice to go with a dual-LED flash.

The first reason, so Ricky thinks, is that the dual-LEDs are super-bright and also take up less battery power, something precious in the N96 given its glut of features. More interestingly however, Ricky notes that the dual-LEDs, as opposed to the Xenon flash, allow one to have a ‘video light’ which is always on, for filming subjects in the dark. This in itself, is certainly a feature that people have longed for for some time.
