ABOUT

The WOMWorld/Nokia is a Nokia sponsored resource providing latest news, comment and feedback on all things Nokia from the world of social media and beyond.

WOM World / Nokia officially launches

April 16th, 2008 at 12:57 pm

We’re very pleased to be able to announce that the WOM World / Nokia is now fully online and operational! This change means that as well as continuing to cover what’s being said online about Nseries devices, we’re going to have sections on Eseries and Nokia’s range of services like N-Gage and Ovi share. And there is more to come in the future!

We’ve had some really cool feedback in the 24 hours since we went live with the new site, which we’ve also spent ironing out the last few bugs. In true WOM World / Nokia style however, here’s some guys talking about it in the space… Steve Litchfield from All About Symbian picked up on the change straight away and sparked off some discussion as did PseudoFinn from Nokia Users, who is excited about the addition of Eseries devices to the site. Another one looking forward to more coverage of the Eseries is Vaibhav from the Symbian blog. Jump through the links to see what they’re all saying.

All in all Nokia loves hearing what you have to say about their devices and services, and they are listening, so keep saying what you want to say and we’ll keep covering it!

Enjoy! If you feel you would like to road test and experience a new Nokia product or service first hand, get in touch with us via our Trial a Nokia section and we’ll get back to you, also be sure to add us to your social profile from our presences list on the right.

Any chance to see an E70 device category? It would be great. I would like to write some things related to E70.

It’s great to see Nokia paying some attention to the E-series when all the resources and new firmwares seem to go the the N-series. I never really understood why Nokia makes such great phones like the E65 only to almost abandon them at once. The dichotomy between business and multimedia phones is quite artificial: both series run the same OS (S60v3) and the same applications (with minor adjustments in some cases due to hardware-specific features). Then why would some of those phones keep getting firmware upgrades and new features year after year (e.g., N73) while others are quickly forgotten (by Nokia, not by their owners!)? It SHOULD be fairly easy for Nokia to unify its development efforts and give all its phones the same -long- life. (I said SHOULD, and if it ISN’T then it’s Nokia’s fault). Nokia should advertise its phones’ maintenance cycles: look at Microsoft’s end-of-life policy for example. I wouldn’t buy a phone that will not get firmware upgrades if I knew beforehand; nowadays I just have to guess based on how much money is being spent on advertising each model.
