N96 and N78 hands on comparison
May 12th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
Meraj Chhaya from Phone Report has lined up a whole row of Nseries devices, and brings us thoughts on the N96 and N78 in comparison to the rest of the bunch.
The N78 gets a big plaudit for the keypad – when it is not backlit some of the keys seem to disappear, a ‘small but fantastic detail’. Whilst it is different to other Nseries devices, the keypad just needs getting used to, and the raised keys give a ‘good feeling’. The best praise is saved for the software, though, with Meraj saying that there are no words ‘to describe how cool [it] is’.
The same cannot be said for the N96, however, which appears to have been ‘extremely buggy’. Cosmetically, the N96 differs only from the N81 8GB in ‘minor’ details, having a bigger display and a higher and thinner navi-wheel. The keypad is much more ‘typeable’ with wider, separated keys, which is a lot better in Meraj’s opinion.
So what do you think? Are the disappearing N78 keys really that great? Will the N96 lose its bugs before release?Jump over and let Meraj know what you think.
