Nokia camera + tracking software = touchpad

May 21st, 2008

In a scene similar to something straight out of a children’s television show, Teo from Symbian Freak brings us a video by Rodak69 showing how to create a multitouch pad/table.

Using nothing more than a cardboard box, a Nokia device with a camera and a simple webcam app, Rodak69 appears to cobble together a touch table that will track the movements of (in this example) finger movements, and transfer them to a screen. This utilises the tracking software of the device to trace movement and send it instantly to your PC screen. Teo is asking if anyone has tried this yet and made it work, so if you’ve got a spare evening, why not give it a whirl?

So why not try it and see if it actually works? Then head over and let Teo know how you got on. Or jump to the original YouTube video and ask Rodak69 how he uses his invention.
