N82 Black – reviewed in the Smartphones Show

May 23rd, 2008

In the latest edition of his Smartphones Show, Steve Litchfield brings us his thoughts on the N82 Black.

Steve doesn’t normally do device reviews when a handset comes out in a new colour, but he says this one is a ‘bit special’. One of the major beefs with the silver edition was that the keypad legends couldn’t be read in any sort of strong light, but this has been addressed by printing them white on black – as Steve says ‘problem solved’. He reckons that the D-Ring on the device has been subtly altered to give it more functionality by raising it slightly, though it is still fiddly until you get used to it.

The screen is still the same 2.4” size and dim, but Steve reckons this is a firmware issue and ‘strongly recommends’ that Nokia make a tweak in the next firmware update. For anyone looking for ‘robustness, navigation quality and low-light photography’, Steve says this is the handset of choice.

Do you have any questions to ask Steve about the N82 Black? Did he cover all the points you wanted to see covered? Head over and ask a question or leave a comment.
