WOM WORLD / NOKIA
Show your S60 Smarts contest winners announced
June 2nd, 2008
Dotsisx from Symbian Guru has posted about the ‘Show Your S60 Smarts’ competition, in which she won the ‘Show Your S60 Insight’ category with this video:
Fundamentally, she was trying to show that the S60 platform can be adapted to suit ‘your everyday life and needs’. She uses the open nature of S60 to do many things, including combining medical ebooks with Mobieader to turn her device into a medical library. Her wholehearted advice is that we should all adapt S60 to our own needs.
The ‘Show Your Favourite App’ category was won by Jakaraka for the demo of Google Maps below. WOM World/Nokia regulars Mark Guim and Rafe (and his dog) came 2nd and 3rd with their efforts about JoikuSpot and walkies.
What do you think of these videos? Do they give you insights that you weren’t aware of? Jump over and leave your thoughts for Dotsisx.

I still can’t believe how S60.com, which is managed by Nokia’s marketing dept., lied to the contest participants by promising to draw one additional S60 device among all of them but in the end just didn’t. They didn’t answer direct questions in the S60.com blog about this either, and censored posts asking about it in the YouTube forum. I really doubt they’ll even deliver the announced awards to the best videos, seeing as how low they value their own word, and considering that they never even specified which S60 devices were to be given away. I think Nokia would do well to tighten up some loose screws in the marketing area.

karmapolis, I’m sorry that you feel upset about our Show your s60 smarts contest. I can assure you that there is absolutely no reason why we wouldn’t stay true to our word. I would like to correct some of the points in your comment and hope that you’ll find all the information you were looking for from the links below.
The Show your S60 smarts contest winners were announced on the S60 Blogs on May 29th (http://blogs.s60.com/seeintos60/2008/05/show_your_s60_smarts_video_con_1.html). The extra device was drawn on the next day, May 30th, and posted to the See into S60 blog with more information about the prizes (http://blogs.s60.com/seeintos60/2008/05/show_your_s60_smarts_prizes_an.html). All the information was available on the contest group on YouTube at the same time as well. I have been in contact with all the winners personally.
If you have any additional feedback please feel free to contact me. You can find my contact information here: http://blogs.s60.com/seeintos60/about.html.
