N95-3 firmware update – a closer look

June 5th, 2008

On The Nokia Blog, Sergio Aguayo has been fully testing out the newest firmware release for the N95-3 (v20.2.011 for those of you into the numbers).

He explores each aspect of what was affected by the update, and breaks these down neatly into easily digested chunks. Demand paging has freed up a lot of RAM and made start up times quicker. The device is also more responsive in general. Flash Lite 3 was included, so videos can be watched in the web browser, although unfortunately, this seems to have taken a stability hit after the upgrade. The menu layout has changed for the better, though in some cases you do require extra clicks to hit your destination. These, as Sergio points out, can be ‘tweaked’ to user preference anyhow. He concludes by saying he recommends the upgrade for the performance enhancement, and gives a thumbs up to Nokia.

Have you upgraded to the latest firmware? Is there anything you’d like Sergio to take a closer look at? Head over and share your views.
