N95 gallery key not wanted…
June 16th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Dotsisx over on Symbian Guru found that after using the N95 for some time the gallery key, on the side, was becoming annoying. It would get hit when not required and then of course there is the frustration of waiting for the gallery to open, and then waiting to close it again. As Dotsisx puts it ‘not convenient’.
Cunningly however, she has taken the availability of MagicKey - which many people have been using to re-map the N95’s multimedia keys for landscape game play - to kill off the gallery button problem completely. By mapping it to replicate the pencil key (the ‘least offensive’ of all the keys!) problems with mistaken key depressions are all but gone. Magic.
There’s also some interesting comments on the love/hate relationship N95 users have with the Gallery key. What are your views? Jump over to leave a comment.

With the exception of the camera capture key, every other one on the right side of the N95 annoys the living daylights out of me particularly when they activate as I am taking a photo and ruin the shot.
I have actually considered opening the device, pulling off the offending gallery key, filling the space in the back/side cover with a bit of plastic & glue and then putting the back cover back on.
My volume button broke long ago, so only the gallery key has my ire.
