N95 app: Cop cam catcher

June 30th, 2008

It was only going to be a matter of time, what with Nokia Maps and GPS, but someone has developed a speed camera warning system for the N95. Both Neil Bird from iGadgetLife and Apoc from Symbian Freak report on the app.

Running in the background whilst Nokia Maps or any other app runs in the foreground, and pops up an audio-visual warning whenever a speed trap approaches. Handy for those of us zipping around the country (legally, of course) and who have been caught out by obviously poorly calibrated cameras. Neil describes the numerous and lengthy processes to get the software installed, but says it is worth it for the peace of mind that you get from knowing you are under the speed limit. Apoc provides some advice on where to get the relevant files and downloads to make your life easier.

Do you think this app will help when you’re driving? Is there anything else you’d like to see added? Jump over and leave Neil a comment, or have your say in the SF forum thread.
