N82 gets a run out - Nokia devices in the real world
June 30th, 2008
Both Vaibhav Sharma of The Symbian Blog and Martin Sauter from Wireless Moves have put the N82 out there in the real world, to be tested by ‘normobs’ (according to Martin, normal mobile users).
Vaibhav gave the device to his Dad, who was enamoured by the camera, snapping more pictures than he had before, even with his ‘newly bought digi cam’. He liked the keypad (despite Vaibhav being convinced he wouldn’t be) and the screen, which seemed sufficient for his needs. On reflection, though, he wouldn’t make the purchase, preferring the E51, prompting Vaibhav to suggest that Nseries devices are maybe built for a younger generation.
Martin’s test subject had mixed success with the device. The number of email attachments she receives means that this aspect of the N82 wasn’t her favourite – viewing the documents wasn’t the easiest thing in the world for her. He does say, however, that video calls are a ‘sure winner’ to put things into a visual context. Mixed results in this test case then.
Overall, the N82 didn’t really get a massive thumbs up from ‘real world users’, so maybe high-end Nseries devices really are aimed at high-end usage. What do you think? Jump through to either of the links and have your say.
