N810 GPS – Diablo helps secure a lock

July 1st, 2008

Over at the TabletBlog, Thoughtfix has tested his N810 –using the latest update to Diablo – to see if his GPS works quicker than usual.

The oft-bemoaned speed of the GPS fix in this NIT has long been a bugbear of users, and Diablo ‘purports’ to have A-GPS, and Thoughtfix reckons the triangulation powers - not by using cellphone masts, but a mix of masts, WiFi and ‘fragmented GPS signals’ – gets him a fix quicker. His test, carried out in a moving vehicle, seemed to prove that theory right. Initially slow, once the N810 was rebooted, the GPS lock was very quick, and even after a couple of days – and in a different location – the device found the satellite very quickly.

What are your experiences of the N810 and GPS? Have you found Diablo helps? Head over and let Thoughtfix know what you think.
