N95 camera blows competition away

July 7th, 2008

Over at the Phone Report, Meraj Chhaya has taken an N95 and used it to show just how poor the cameras on other devices can be.

The unlucky competitor in this case was the Samsung i450 and its 2MP unit. The lack of autofocus and poor settings in the automatic mode mean the i450 pales in comparison with the 5MP might of the N95. The shots that Meraj has posted show just how much better the Nokia unit is in all situations. He also highlights the fact that the Samsung device needs the keypad slide opened in order to take a photo, and bemoans them for not programming it so the camera can be used in the closed position. ‘Even though it isn’t a camera-focused device’ Meraj reckons there is a lot that the Samsung can learn by comparing itself to the Nokia flagship device.

What do you think? Is the N95 the be all and end all when it comes to a camera-toting device? What could be improved? Is this a good way to show the more general user just how much scope there is for imaging on a mobile device? Head over and share your thoughts with Meraj.

I agree, the N95 camera is just superb, with only the flash letting it down with night shots. Xenon flash would of made it perfect.
