N78 – review continues
July 15th, 2008
In a mammoth N78 review, the guys at Talk About Nseries have brought us the third and fourth parts, concentrating on FP2 and the FM transmitter.
First up is jamespowell1989 and his take on how Feature Pack 2 has improved the user experience. In his opinion, it’s the ‘best’ version of S60 yet, and has made the interface ‘speedy’ and less ‘clunky’ than previously. The menu transitions make using them ‘a whole lot nicer’ and the changes make it easier ‘to access what you want’. James goes on to give screen shots of the menu changes (there is now the option to eschew the traditional grid pattern and opt for a horseshoe or V-shaped layout) and the labelling of the central button. Overall, he’s impressed with the improvements to speed and usability, but reckons some of the changes have just been made for ‘eye-candy’ purposes.
Tashedwards89 has taken a look at the N78’s built-in FM transmitter and she found everything about it to be easy and straightforward. From the simple set up (just access it through the Settings menu), to the ‘very good’ sound quality with ‘no interference’ when music was playing through the (in her case) car speakers, there were no complaints about this aspect of the device except, maybe (and she admits she was ‘struggling’ to find a bad point), the drain on the battery that comes from excessive use.
So James and Tash are fans of those two aspects of the N78, but what do you think? Have you had any problems with the FM transmitter? FP2 lost anything you liked in the menu structure and transitions? Head over to either post and leave a comment letting them know what you think.
