Hands on E71 review and a few hints

July 23rd, 2008

Mark Guim from The Nokia Blog has brought his *extensive* thoughts on the E71, concentrating solely on the physical aspects of the device.

The build quality impressed him, as the device ‘felt good’ to hold and doesn’t feel cheap at all. He has a minor gripe about a gap just below the screen that allows some light leakage in the dark, but glosses over this with the wonder of the rest of the review. As the screen is already in landscape mode, web browsing is actually ‘more convenient’ on the E71 than other Nokia devices, even though the real estate is smaller. On the QWERTY keyboard, Mark reckons that he now sees what he ‘has been missing’ as sending messages and general typing is ‘so much easier and faster’ on the E71. Mark is ‘impressed’ by the power of the loudspeaker on the device, but ‘disappointed’ by the 3MP camera and the 2.5mm audio jack. He concludes that the great looks of the device are the ‘icing on the cake’ and the E71 is ‘optimal for messaging on the go’.

What do you think of the device? Anything that you’d like to see covered in the next part of the review? Has Mark said anything you take issue with? Head over to his site and let him know what you think.

Meanwhile over on The Nokia Guide, Devin Balentina brings us a graph that shows the data transfer speed of the E71 compared to other devices, and also a handy video on the ‘dual purpose’ notification light. He reckons the light feels almost ‘organic’, so head over and check his video to see if you agree.
