E61i – steps to help you to the other side

July 24th, 2008

Gersbo has been writing on his blog about the transition from T9 Nseries to a QWERTY Eseries device, and how the journey can be made easier.

Firstly, he advocates transferring all your information (contacts, messages etc.) using the Transfer or Switch application that has been a feature of Nokia devices for a while. Complete with screen shots, he guides us through the process, and it seems fairly painless. For more complex information, he recommends reading an article by Dotsisx on Symbian Guru covered on these pages some days ago. Being able to set priorities for network connections is something that might take a while to set up, but is a feature that ‘you are going to love’. Setting the device to check for email only when there is a WLAN connection available, for example, is something that Gersbo managed to do quite easily. He also used the built-in email client in an Eseries device for the first time, which was ‘very easy to set up and works very well’.

Finishing with a few excellent paths to some handy features (such as the notification light), Gersbo has done his level best to ease your passage from N to Eseries. Has it helped you though? Will you make the step across? Is there anything else he could help you with? Jump over and let him know.

Gersbo has also been playing with the MD-5W Bluetooth speakers, and brings us a little video to show how they work. A classic unboxing, Gersbo takes us all round the speakers and is a great guide for anyone looking for some new audio toys.
