N78 gets a physical

July 28th, 2008 at 3:47 pm

Tam has written on his blog about what you actually get when you take delivery of your N78 by posting about the physical aspects of the device.

He says taking a glance at the front of the device is very reminiscent of the iPhone, except for ‘a button or two’. The first time you see it, Tam reckons the keypad looks ‘very small’, but assures readers that ‘it becomes surprisingly comfortable’ after just a few minutes of use. A couple of gripes are that the dedicated edit key ‘is gone’ and the keyboard text is ‘almost impossible to read’ if the backlight is off. The fact that the camera has no protection makes it ‘painfully obvious’ in Tam’s eyes that Nokia is trying to limit the lifespan of this device. Quite the accusation. Tam concludes by sating the device feels ‘WAY too cheap’, although he does pay homage to the ‘innovative keyboard and design’ which are ‘great’.

Do you agree with Tam? Is there anything you’d like to see covered in more detail? If you’ve had your hands on the N78, can you find any redeeming features? Get over to Tam’s site and let him know.
