The ‘brilliantly efficient’ E71 and the ‘high quality’ 6220
July 29th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Dave Oliver from Reg Hardware has brought us another of the multi-page special reviews for which the site is renowned. The E71 is the subject and is hailed as having ‘no small amount of style’.
Dave reckons that Nokia have applied their experience to the practical side of the device, and there are ‘few who can touch it.’ With dimensions ‘akin to a playing card’, Dave reckons the metal casing adds ‘gravitas’ to the device and the rubberised buttons give ‘reliable feedback’. The screen is ‘clear and sharp, with a good sense of depth’, and is ‘perfectly legible’ in almost direct sunlight. WiFi proved ‘painlessly efficient’ and web browsing was ‘a pleasure’, and the device was ‘nippy enough’ to handle everything that was thrown at it. There’s more, but you’ll have to head over to find out what other gems Dave has to offer.
On the same site (man, those boys are busy), Phil Lattimore has been taking a look at the 6220 Classic, and he reckons it’s ‘anything but’ a normal handset. He reckons that whilst it is power-packed with features, the exterior of the handset is a ‘disappointment’ as it has a ‘cheap, plasticky feel’ and the glossy front is a ‘bit creaky’ under finger pressure. There is a ‘casual’ feel to navigation, too – although Phil is keen to point out it isn’t slow, just more laid back. That said, the 5MP Carl Zeiss camera gets ‘excellent imaging results’, and takes video ‘superior’ to other devices. Phil goes on to outline lots more, and this is a great place to start when looking for a mid-range handset.
Is there anything you take issue with in either of these reviews? Anything you think you can add, or want to know more about? Head over and leave a comment, air your views and have your say.
