E71 vs. E90 processor speeds
July 29th, 2008
We’ve not had a battle on these pages for a while, so fair play to Alex Bhaswara for coming up with the E71 vs. E90 post on All About Nokia E90.
The faster clock rate in the E71 should mean the device is quicker than the E90, but is that necessarily the case? Actually, comparing the Freescale unit in the E71 with the OMAP2420 housed in the E90 is like chalk and cheese, according to Alex’s source. The E90 actually has a dual core, so it can split the work (calls vs. apps), leaving the E71 to struggle coping with both loads on the one processor. Another difference is the graphic and video accelerator in the E90, which explains why games such as Quake can be run on this device, but not the E71. So the winner appears to be, at least in the processor and speed stakes, the slightly older E90. Now there’s a turn up for the books.
Do you agree that the E90 runs faster than the E71? Have you compared the two side by side? Head over and let Alex know what your experiences are, and which you think is the best device.
