WOM WORLD / NOKIA
50 Cent uses Ovi
July 30th, 2008
On the Geo Factor site, Ron Exler has written about a recent interview with Nokia’s global head of industry and marketing, Kamar Shah.
Shah was quick to point out that the N95 and Ovi is becoming a popular combination, reaching celebrity heights and attracting the attention of the likes of 50 Cent, who uses the service. Ron goes on to discuss the uses of Ovi, and whilst he admits to only having a ‘cursory’ look at the Ovi website reckons that there is ‘little integration’ between his device and the maps service. He does say that the walking directions look ‘interesting’, and having read the Nokia pages thinks that geotagging photos, sharing maps and routes with friends and finding restaurants all sounds like it would be something Fiddy might be into.
What do you think of Ovi? Is it a service that has made your life easier? Have you shared much with friends? Head over and let Ron know how you use it.

I think the fact that celebrities use a service means little to most people, which is why I poked fun at that. My comment on the integration is not about the phone and maps service, but says, “A cursory look at the site reveals little integration of the maps with anything but the phones.” Meaning, Ovi is about sharing, yet the map sharing integration appears limited.
It would be great to get some answers from WOM World/Nokia about the questions I pose.

I doubt 50 Cent is endorsing Ovi. He’s a big user of Kyte, and his channel has 1320 active viewers right now. He’s got his Kyte channel embedded right in the middle of his website! Think he’s gonna throw that away easily?
Plus Kyte lets him embed a Vitamin Water logo over the top of his videos. Will Ovi have ad integration?
