TV-out turns your device into a games console

August 1st, 2008

Tzer2 from All About N-Gage has posted about the fact that you can use your device to turn your TV/device combo into your very own games console.

Simply connecting up using the TV out cable shows whatever is on the device’s screen, and when it comes to N-Gage gaming, this can seriously enhance the experience. Admittedly it is better for some games than others - Tzer2 says System Rush Evolution is ‘surprisingly stunning’, but Sims2 was never designed for a big screen and looks ‘extremely tatty’ when played like this. The question of control is raised and Tzer2 reckons that devices as they stand are perfectly adequate as gaming controllers, although there is an alternative in the form of Bluetooth keyboards. There have also been rumblings in forums and the like of the need for someone to develop specific gaming hardware – a controller that attaches to your device.

What are your thoughts on this subject? Do you use the TV-out function to play games? Is there a game you play which looks better this way than on your device? Head over and let Tzer2 know what you think.
