N96 launch date causes a stir

August 1st, 2008 at 1:28 pm

The space has been flooded with excited posts over the launch date of the Nokia N96 which has been announced as Wednesday 1st October.

The main view expressed is one of relief, after numerous release date rumors and speculation, and thenokian96.com is glad that ‘finally we got some official news’. Described as ‘a beast’, Nokia’s latest Nseries model doesn’t disappoint, boasting 16 GB of internal memory, double that of its predecessor (and a massive four times that of the new HTC Touch Diamond). As Nokia are well known to launch their new models at similar points internationally, it’s not just the UK market that is excited. One noteworthy exception to the list of carriers announced is O2, which Ian Williams of vnunet.com believes is because “Apple may be putting pressure on the operator to avoid direct competition with the iPhone 3G.”

Announcing an October launch, at a similar time to the launch of the well anticipated business models E71 and E66, is a bold move from Nokia, so which of the models are you most excited to see? Head over to either of the sites above to let your thoughts be known.
