N95 camera scratches – do they matter?

September 11th, 2008

Much has been made of the lack of lens protection on some of Nokia’s devices, but Steve Litchfield from All About Symbian has gone into Myth Buster mode to try and sort out the issue once and for all.

He has taken his much-cared-for N95 which has a series of fine scratches on the lens despite his constant cleaning of the glass (what he didn’t realise was he was grinding in microscopic particles of dirt with his shirt corner) and has taken some snaps to prove his point. The point being that until there is an issue with flare from a bright light (flash in a mirror or direct sun) there is very little difference as to whether scratches on the lens are actually a problem.

Do you agree with Steve’s conclusions? What are your experiences with your device’s camera? Head over and join the comment stream.
