Nokia 6210 Navigator’s accelerometer
September 18th, 2008 at 11:23 am
Norman John has been writing on Symbian World about the 6210’s in-built accelerometer and highlights 3 features that utilise its power.
First up is the 6210 used for navigation, and turning the handset through ninety degrees automatically flips the screen into landscape mode, which can make using the maps easier. Flipping the handset over silences an incoming call or alarm (much like the FlipSilent app), very handy for meetings or if you’re fumbling round in the dark looking for buttons. The accelerometer is also used in games, as Norman John shows in a video, along with the other uses of the sensor.
Is there anything else you’d like to see the accelerometer used for? Do you think it is an unnecessary tool? Head over and share your thoughts with Norman John.
