Nokia BH-604 and BH-503 headphones under consideration

Amir over at Mobile Space has done a neat comparison of the Nokia BH-503 and BH-604 stereo blue-tooth headphones which he’s tested with his N82.
Amir works his way through the various features of the headsets including their built in microphones (which he tests on both calls and for taking voice memos) as he determines which is a better choice. Ultimately it is the BH-503 that wins out but check the full breakdown for the details.

Easy Gmail on your Nseries

Push email, made popular by the Blackberry, is no longer just the domain of uber-stressed yuppies.
Kiro at The N95 Blog is impressed by all the time he’s saved by implementing push Gmail on his N95 not to mention the ease of use it has added. His tip, if you want to get up and running yourself, is to check out the latest edition of The Smartphone Show from Steve Litchfield which features a handy guide to getting Gmail (and who doesn’t use it these days?!) to spew mail at you the second it hits your account.

Keeping your Nseries and blog in harmony

Ms Jen at Black Phoebe has posted her experiences lamenting the demise of the LifeBlog app and trying to get Nokia’s Share Online 3.0 to work with her Movable Type blog. The good news is, it worked, sort of. The less good news, it did take a bit of fiddling and is far from perfect. In similar fashion, Meraj Chhaya at CNM | PhoneReport has sought to answer the question: what happens when you upload something via Wavelog (the S60 app for posting to blogs from your Nseries device)? Clocking on time

Mike at the N82 Blog has posted a couple of solutions for S60 3rd edition users wanting more from their clocks.
As he notes, the screen saver on his N82 shows a very small clock, which is only readable by picking up the device and having a good look. Sometimes a quick glance is all you have time for (geddit?!) and so he’s found a couple of apps that give you more of a time-piece to look at while your Nseries is resting.

Y-Browser for S60 gets an update

Popular file-manager Y-Browser is a must install for many Nseries users, and if you haven’t yet taken the plunge, the update to version v0.88 could be all the excuse you need.
Apoc at Symbian Freak has covered the release stating it brings updates in terms of both features and stability, and though he had stopped using the app for some time, may well delve back in with this version.
Vaibhav Sharma at The Symbian Blog has also mentioned the update including details on how you can extend the app with plug-ins if you so wish.

With every major festivity comes a number of themes for your S60 device… This time around it is, of course, Easter and Krisse at All About Symbian has collated a selection of egg and bunny related themes, though apologizes for the small selection. Have you got any relevant themes up your sleeve? Jump over and let everyone know!
Don’t feel left out if you’re an Nseries Internet Tablet user however, as those nice folk at Canola have just released three additional themes in striking red, blue and black, alongside another update (that’s Beta 7 now) that introduces full Youtube support within the popular media player. JoikuSpot converts your S60 into a WiFi router

Vaibhav from The Symbian Blog brings news of the updated version of JoikuSpot Light, the handy little app that converts your WiFi-enabled S60 device into a wireless hub, enabling several connections to be used at once. The first version caused waves across the space when it launched, and Vaibhav thinks that this update, which brings more stability, will keep that interest alive.
This thread at Symbian Freak is also kicking off on the subject and is the place to be to leave your comments on the latest update. Does it go far enough?

Downloading on your Nseries device

Vaibhav Sharma over at The Symbian Blog is a fan of the S60 built-in browser, for the most part. Unfortunately he does have one gripe with it and that is that it isn’t great when you want to download files.
With a machine as powerful as an Nseries device in your hand, you want it to be as open as possible, and being stifled in your downloading options can stop that happening. Step forward therefore SmartGET, a python based download manager that will do pretty much everything you ask of it.
Vaibhav is happy with it saying it handles downloads ‘pretty well’ liking the options to pause and resume downloads as well as see how long your downloads have left to go, as you might with a PC based solution. What do you think? Is it worth installing? Jump over to have your say.

Widsets 2.0 Beta available for download

Widsets for your Nseries device have been around for a while, but they have only become popular more recently. This trend looks set to continue with the release of the Widsets 2.0 beta to a waiting public.
Rafe Blandford at All About Symbian has manged to pull together a great post packed with screen shots from Widsets 2.0, while Mobile Diva Darla Mack is excited by all the cool features that the Widsets team have packed into this release. Similarly, Devin Balentina at The Nokia Guide notes how much smoother the new version runs than the original, and looks forward to testing it further.

FM Transmitters, not just for the N78

The inclusion of an FM transmitter in the N78 will be seen as a great addition for music fans looking for way to free the music from their N78. The effect can of course be achieved with an external device, and so Meraj Chhaya from CNM | Phone Report, inspired by the inclusion of FM transmission on the N78, has put together his own guide to the practice using his N95.
Testing it in the car, Meraj notes that you can pick up FM transmitters relatively cheaply, and all you need to use them with your Nseries device is the 3.5mm headphone jack. The example he used also required power, solved by using an adaptor to the cars cigarette lighter. Once all is plugged in, it is simply a matter of selecting a frequency to record on, and tuning your equipment - the car radio - into that frequency.
Meraj thinks it is great and cuts the need for bluetooth headsets etc in the car. What are your views? Have you been transmitting for a while?
