Next up Viknesh lists the most popular apps downloaded on his 5800, which has some of the usual suspects. He also praises the screen which has just the right level of sensitivity.

Dr Got Passport at Got Passport has just discovered WOMWorld/Nokia – and has posted a 5800 review following his first trial experience.

He was particularly enamoured with the novelty voice feature on the navigation system. He said:

‘Download the maps (hundreds to choose from worldwide) to the 8GB (included) memory card, then choose the navigation voice, available in many languages and both genders. Our favorite voice was the “surfer dude”.

‘Finally, a navigation device that is fun-I was LOL by myself in the car. Emma loved it too! Someone has to add celebrity voices to navigation devices. Nokia, are you listening? How about Clint Eastwood, or Jessica Rabbit?’

Which celebrity’s voice would you like to grace your sat nav? Good question… we like! This WOMWorld/Nokia writer’s journey would definitely be brightened up with directions from Eric Cartman.

…the N97 and 5800 XpressMusic, according to Jay Montano of My Nokia Blog (reporting on an email from Tam Hanna).

Whether this is because there are more of these devices out in the wild, or whether their owners are more likely to use the Ovi Store, Jay finds it hard to say. According to Jay’s figures, the N97 and 5800 grab a share of the downloads of 46.5% and 40.6% respectively, leaving other devices to make up the numbers. So, why do you think this is?

Nitish Kumar offers us his Layman’s Take on the comparison between the touchscreen devices from Nokia and their biggest rival. He thinks - camera issues aside - that the 5800 is the ‘perfect touch screen device’. High praise indeed, considering the popularity of the device he was comparing it to. There’s been all kinds of excitement around the N900 software update. What may have slipped beneath the radar somewhat is the fact that the 5800 Xpress Music has also been adorned with some update loving from Nokia.

Clearly it’s down to a certain amount of individual taste, but Steve shares his thinking about over 20 devices, in a prelude to picking his Top 5 (something we do on a regular basis at WOMWorld Towers). The Nokia suite of devices get a good look in, with many making the provisional top 10. Worth keeping an eye out for when Steve narrows down the list to the final 5.
