Darla Mack, the Mobile Diva, has voiced an opinion that is held by other major players, that of the ‘out of box’ device experience not quite being what it should be (she refers to her N96, but it could apply across the board).

She lists a few things that could be done to help users - a welcome card urging new owners to register their device, which once done introduces new services such as Ovi to the user. She’d also like to see the manufacturer citing pages and forums giving users hints and tips on how to fine tune their device. Ricky Cadden has chipped in on the comment stream mentioning a simple ‘Quick S60’ guide for newcomers.

What would you like to see in a device’s box? Any ideas to ease the user experience? Head over and join in the comments.

Alongside his interpretation of the UI – which he regards as ‘ornate’ – PrAT33K lists the specs of the handset before going on to express an opinion. He reckons it ‘takes photography seriously’ and that virtually no other device can compete. The only deal breaker could be the lack of WiFi and relatively small screen.

Do you reckon the 6220 Classic matches up to the competition? Can you chare any images that the little beast has snapped? Get over to PrAT33K’s site and share them

The guys at Phonegg have produced a chart which put side by side all the specs of the N82 and the 6220 Classic, and allows the reader to see the real differences between the two.

Included next to the pertinent categories are ratings showing which device scores best, but on a sliding scale so it is obvious when a certain aspect doesn’t live up to the 100% mark. Along with graphical size comparisons and a natty pentagonal score chart, this really is the place to check for the pure facts.

Having looked at the chart, is there anything else you’d like to know? What info can the guys bring you next? Leave a comment and let them know.

Rafe unfortunately let his E71 slip into a ‘raging torrent’ recently, and as unhappy as this was, it gave him a chance to post on All About Symbian about how to minimise the chances of damage to the device.

The first things you’d do are the obvious ones such as remove the battery and all cards and external detachable components, but then there are some tips that will improve the chances of survival. Placing the device in a container of rice, in an airing cupboard, for three days will give the best hope, but if it has been in contact with a sticky or salty drink, rinsing it with clean water wouldn’t be the first thing you’d think to do, would it?

From the comment stream, plenty of others have had this experience, and if you’ve got any tips to share, head over and add to the list.

Ricky Cadden has posted the most extensive 6220 review seen to date over on Mobile Burn, running to five pages and going into great depth on every aspect of the handset.

Beginning with the assertion that the 6200 feels ‘solid’ (contrary to a lot of opinion already voiced) and as if there ‘isn’t any free space inside’, he goes on to say it is light and the dimensions do not hint at the ‘feature-packed’ interior. The subsequent pages cover everything from core functions to multimedia to UI and he ends the post with a page of sample photos taken with the 5MP camera.

Having read the exhaustive thoughts of Ricky, do you have anything you’d like to ask him or share with him? Pop over and let him know what you think of the 6220.

Angieyong has got a ‘new toy’ in the shape of the Nokia 6220 Classic and has brought her readers her thoughts on her blog.

She wanted a light, 5MP camera-toting, surfing-enabled handset and opted for the 6220 after ‘much comparing’. She reckons it has ‘most of the features’ found in an N82, and whilst not being as solid ‘will do’. Angie hasn’t tried out all the facets of the handset yet, such as the GPS, but has given the Red Eye Reduction mode of the camera a whirl.

Is there anything else you’d like Angie to share with you whilst she is exploring the 6220? Have you got any tips for her? Head over and let her know.

He has various tests in line for the handset, including an extensive test of its musical ability and battery life, and various camera scenarios. He is planning on replacing his MP3 player with the handset for a couple of days, and spending another couple using it as his only point of contact with the internet.

Have you got any suggestions for further test he could carry out? Which aspects of the 6200 Classic intrigue you? Join in the forum thread to have your say.
