E71 RSS FeedFirmware update for E66/E71
July 3rd, 2009
Now boasting v300.21.012, the Eseries devices have got a firmware update in the last 24 hours. Reported widely (as ever) across the space, among those to carry news of the update are All About Symbian’s Rafe, and Apoc over at Symbian Freak.
Changes noticed so far include updates to Mail For Exchange and Nokia Messaging, and ‘a number of widget-powered shortcuts to popular social media sites’. There’s a thread open on the SF Forum if you’ve noticed any other changes since you upgraded. *As ever, always back up before you upgrade.*

E71 - the insomnia effect!
June 18th, 2009
Every once in a while a device comes along that you’ll find hard to put down, as Nancy has found with the E71. Strong email functionality as well as the ability to run key apps like MS Word, has left her stating that the device is ‘really unique…handy and value-for-money’.
Do you have an E71? Has it helped you manage your emails and work files more easily? Let Nancy know your experiences.

BBC iPlayer comes to N95 8GB and E71
June 11th, 2009
Steve Litchfield from All About Symbian has posted letting readers know that the iPlayer application will now work on some further Nokia devices.
He explains the ’slight tweaks’ that have been made - some tab rearrangment and layout changes - and goes on to say that the .sisx file will only work on the N95, N95 8GB and E71. He advises going to the BBC site which will provide the most suitable version for your device.
Have you downloaded iPlayer? How have you found the experience? Let others know by leaving a comment on the AAS page.

More N97 pics…with some E71 side action
June 9th, 2009
Even if you can’t understand what Rodrigo Stoledo is saying in his post (it’s in Spanish Portuguese [my bad!]), you can bask in the glory of his Flickr slide show of images showing the N97…but which also features the E71 as a comparison and includes beauties such as the image below.

Eseries love
June 8th, 2009
Couple of Eseries devices feeling the love today, for very different reasons.
Veronneca can’t get enough of her E75, and finds it ‘amazing’ that she can update her blog wirelessly in an airport from a mobile (especially when the chap next to her is struggling with a bulky laptop).
freshmess is also packing an Eseries, this time the E71, and has taken some sample images which are getting some very positive responses in the comment stream.
Leave your thoughts on either device by clicking through the links above.

E63 may be cheap, but it’s very cheerful
June 2nd, 2009
Cars Autos has posted about the E63 on the Mobile News Review site and says that even though he has moved back to the E71, he still misses the chubbier sibling.
‘Reserved and quiet’ next to the ‘classier’ E71, the E63 maintains all the features whilst simply being made differently. Cars discusses similarities and differences, concluding that it fits well within the Eseries, being ‘one serious business device’.
Do you agree? Is the E63 a ‘toy’ compared to the E71? Jump over and share your views.

E71 - making life more manageable
May 29th, 2009
An aspiring writer has published an article about how certain tools have enabled him to make his creative output ‘quicker, slicker, and better than without’. Jonathan L. Lawrence describes his purchase of an E71 as ‘a revelation’. Basic features like notes, voice recorder and camera - as well as the ability to handle documents from his computer (through Quickoffice) - have ’simplified’ his life no end.
Has your Nokia device made your life more easily manageable? Jump over and let Jonathan know…

E71 under discussion…
May 27th, 2009
There’s a nice discussion about the E71 taking place over on Symbian Freak forum.
One of the key benefits highlighted by users on the thread is that the E71 has S60 3rd FP2 (the modes feature, which allows custom desktops being cited as a favorite!) MichaelSF believes the E71 is ‘one of the best Nokia Devices around…very good hardware quality, slim device with lots of Potential and fantastic Battery Life”.
Have you got an E71 or thinking of getting one? Join in the discussion.

Some Friday fun…
May 22nd, 2009
Nice article here from Webdesigner Depot that runs through the long term evolution of mobile devices. Suffice to say there’s a great Nokia contingent in there (and some good nuggets of nostalgia!), but it’s mostly a great way to get yourself thinking about how the current crop, E71, N96 etc fit into the larger scheme of things.
Does it inspire any thoughts?
