November 29th, 2008

Hot on the heels of bringing us some great 5800 XpressMusic pictures, Phat^Trance has found a video  of the E90 boasting the Super Mario Advance game (he throws in some great images of the device as a bonus). For those who remember the heady days when Mario ruled the world, check out the video on the Daily Mobile site.

Is this the best emulation you’ve seen on the E90? What do you reckon to the device as a whole? Let Phat^Trance know by leaving him a comment.

November 26th, 2008

Phat^Trance has produced a lovely gallery of Black E90 shots on his Daily Mobile site that show the device from every conceivable angle (and some you won’t have though of).

After some brief specs of the Communicator, giving details of the two screens, 3.2MP camera and ‘greatly improved’ features, the imagery commences.

Are you an E90 user? What do you think of the device? Do these images whet your appetite if you don’t have an E90? Let Phat^Trance know.

E90 looks ‘extraordinary’

November 25th, 2008

Kuzma has just got his hands on an E90, and reckons it is a great device for those who aren’t into ‘flashy menus’.

He says that the device has a feature set that is still pretty unusual for a handset in the US, and the ‘laptop style design’ distinguishes it from its rivals. Given that he also has an E71 in his possession, he promises a comparison between the two soon. For now though, he just says that the E90 is ‘extraordinary in physical appearance’.

What do you think of the E90? What would you like to see from an E90 vs. E71 comparison? Let Kuzma know by leaving him a comment.

Nokia issued with a ‘to do’ list

November 24th, 2008

The Renegade Fanboy has come up with a wish list of improvements and innovations that he’s looking for Nokia to implement in the coming weeks and months.

Some of them are to do with devices and limiting the number of releases in each year. He reckons that there should be two N- and two Eseries per 12 months. He also implores the manufacturer to ensure that all devices are made released with USB charging. Many of the suggestions are quite enlightening, so head over and see what you think, then add any more you’re desperate to see.

Collected E90 images

November 21st, 2008

No words, just pictures (collected from around the space it would seem), this time of the Nokia E90 Communicator – to give it the right and proper title - on the Amazing….site.

They give a fair indication of the size and shape of the device, and the relative screen dimensions.

Perhaps of interest are the links in the sidebar that have images of all the Nokia devices you could wish to look at. Is there a device that you wish to see more of? Simply leave a comment and see if more pics appear.

Better box experience please, Nokia – users speak

November 19th, 2008

Darla Mack, the Mobile Diva, has voiced an opinion that is held by other major players, that of the ‘out of box’ device experience not quite being what it should be (she refers to her N96, but it could apply across the board).

She lists a few things that could be done to help users - a welcome card urging new owners to register their device, which once done introduces new services such as Ovi to the user. She’d also like to see the manufacturer citing pages and forums giving users hints and tips on how to fine tune their device. Ricky Cadden has chipped in on the comment stream mentioning a simple ‘Quick S60’ guide for newcomers.

What would you like to see in a device’s box? Any ideas to ease the user experience? Head over and join in the comments.

Latest E90 news

November 18th, 2008

A couple of posts have surfaced recently highlighting various aspects of the E90 and its hitherto undiscovered capabilities.

The Best of E90 pages brings us a movie showing full screen video on the device, showing the ‘crystal clear’ picture and that it doesn’t skip any frames in the ‘heavy format’. Meanwhile, Bernie Goldbach has been using the device as a mobile office whilst soothing the brows of his recently inoculated daughter. Able to instantly move your office like this is something he sees as the future, and outlines his vision further.

How do you use your E90? Anything unusual that you’ve done with it? Jump through either of the links above and share your experiences.

Water damage on your Nokia? Don’t panic

November 13th, 2008

Rafe unfortunately let his E71 slip into a ‘raging torrent’ recently, and as unhappy as this was, it gave him a chance to post on All About Symbian about how to minimise the chances of damage to the device.

The first things you’d do are the obvious ones such as remove the battery and all cards and external detachable components, but then there are some tips that will improve the chances of survival. Placing the device in a container of rice, in an airing cupboard, for three days will give the best hope, but if it has been in contact with a sticky or salty drink, rinsing it with clean water wouldn’t be the first thing you’d think to do, would it?

From the comment stream, plenty of others have had this experience, and if you’ve got any tips to share, head over and add to the list.
