N82 RSS FeedN82 changes one user’s outlook
December 1st, 2008
Royel has been converted, and shares his experience on his blog.
He used to be a Motorola V325i owner, but a few weeks with the N82, and he’s definitely a member of the Nokia camp now. The device felt ‘comfortable and sturdy’ in his hand, and the initial worry over the size of the keys was soon overcome. The best feature, though, is the 5MP camera which gave ‘crisp’ images.
Is Royel right to be such a fan? Are there any more details of his experience you’d like to read about? Head across to his site and let him know.

Launch of Nokia viNe
November 26th, 2008
The Guru reports that Nokia viNe has launched, and brings us his thoughts on the ‘prettier’ version of Sportstracker. He lists the devices that the service is available on, and comments that the fact it is not available on the N95 or the E66 is a strange one. Ani from the S60 blog also reports on the release and reckons that it is a viable alternative to a PC for sharing one’s life. He reckons it’s a ‘good job’ by Nokia and includes some screen shots of the website.
Have you used viNe yet? Do you think it’s a good way of letting others know what you’ve been up to? Jump through the links above to share your thoughts.

Camera war – N82 vs. N96
November 24th, 2008
Cj has taken it upon himself to compare the cameras of the contenders to top camera spot, and bring us his results in a lengthy pic-packed post.
He tried the cameras out in many modes from close up to long shots, and awarded a point to the best-performing device in each category. In keeping with previous posts we won’t reveal which device came out on top, but Cj reckons the N96 has a super fast focus and deals quite well with subject matter at a distance.
Which device has the best camera for you? Have you come up with any other tests? Jump over and let Cj know.

Nokia issued with a ‘to do’ list
November 24th, 2008
The Renegade Fanboy has come up with a wish list of improvements and innovations that he’s looking for Nokia to implement in the coming weeks and months.
Some of them are to do with devices and limiting the number of releases in each year. He reckons that there should be two N- and two Eseries per 12 months. He also implores the manufacturer to ensure that all devices are made released with USB charging. Many of the suggestions are quite enlightening, so head over and see what you think, then add any more you’re desperate to see.

Better box experience please, Nokia – users speak
November 19th, 2008
Darla Mack, the Mobile Diva, has voiced an opinion that is held by other major players, that of the ‘out of box’ device experience not quite being what it should be (she refers to her N96, but it could apply across the board).
She lists a few things that could be done to help users - a welcome card urging new owners to register their device, which once done introduces new services such as Ovi to the user. She’d also like to see the manufacturer citing pages and forums giving users hints and tips on how to fine tune their device. Ricky Cadden has chipped in on the comment stream mentioning a simple ‘Quick S60’ guide for newcomers.
What would you like to see in a device’s box? Any ideas to ease the user experience? Head over and join in the comments.

Comparison chart – N82 vs. 6220 Classic
November 18th, 2008
The guys at Phonegg have produced a chart which put side by side all the specs of the N82 and the 6220 Classic, and allows the reader to see the real differences between the two.
Included next to the pertinent categories are ratings showing which device scores best, but on a sliding scale so it is obvious when a certain aspect doesn’t live up to the 100% mark. Along with graphical size comparisons and a natty pentagonal score chart, this really is the place to check for the pure facts.
Having looked at the chart, is there anything else you’d like to know? What info can the guys bring you next? Leave a comment and let them know.

Nokia dilemma – Eseries vs. Nseries
November 17th, 2008

He is interested in which types of people prefer which types of device and as well as simply answering the poll, he urges you to leave your reasons in the comments stream. By building up a picture of the usage of various devices, Aditya hopes to gain an insight into whether there is any crossover in user groups.
Head over, vote, leave your comments and let him know why you use what you use.

Best mobile video camera?
November 17th, 2008
Steve Litchfield from All About Symbian brings us his latest thoughts on the ‘nitty gritty’ of cameras in mobile devices, this time focussing on the video capabilities.
He takes several Nokia devices and others from different manufacturers and compares the picture and sound quality. He reckons there is a ‘huge’ chasm between ‘good and bad video recording’, and demonstrates in an MP4 compilation clip which he urges readers to download (to avoid distortion from any video repositories).
What do you reckon to his findings? Do you agree with his conclusions? Jump over and join the growing comment stream.

NokiaviNe ‘101’
November 15th, 2008
Glenn Letham is well known as an ‘evangelist’ of all things ‘mobile and geospatial’, so with glee has embraced the newly released NokiaviNe and brings the readers of his LBSZone pages a ‘how to’ on the service.
He has been using it on an N82 and has recently switched to an N95 8GB with no issues – he reckons NokiaviNe takes a lot of the functionality of Sports Tracker but bundles it to make it ‘more appealing’ to the everyday user. Along with detailed instructions and screen grabs, Glenn talks readers through his recent trips.
Read and inwardly digest, then if you have any questions you’d like to ask Glenn about the service, head over and fire away.
