N85 firmware updated to v30.101

Teo and Snowy have brought news over at Symbian Freak that the N85 has received a Firmware Over The Air update (FOTA for those who know) to version 30.101.

There’s no changelog available yet, but Cj has posted a quote from the press release that mentions improving copying contacts from the SIM card.

Let the guys know if you come across any changes when you update. Remember, even though the N85 has User Data Preservation, always back up before updating the firmware.

Battle of the camera battles

Mark Guim and Dotsisx (on Fone Arena) have both had the same idea, and produced camera tests…in the dark.

Dotsisx compares the N85 with the N82, and while the N85 provides some ‘pretty decent’ snaps, they stand ashamed by the undisputed Nseries imaging king. Mark goes one step further and introduces the N97 and an Apple iPhone 3GS into the mix. WIth no flash, the iPhone produces a completely black image, but the other results may surprise you.

N85 firmware updated to v30.019

The news has been carried by Vaibhav at The Symbian Blog among others, but the changelog seems to be elusive for now. Keep your eyes open, and let him know if you see any differences following your update. Remember, always back up your info before you attempt firmware updates.

N85 a ‘power’ device

Over at Daily Mobile, Anotheran has guest posted with a review of the N85.

He says it has a ‘good weight giving it a solid high quality feel’, yet the slider isn’t as ’stiff’ as the E65. Packed with some close detail images of the device, Anotheran walks us through the keypad, dimensions and display lighting before concluding that the N85 is a ‘worthy successor to the N95.
