N96 asks you to Face The Task…

July 10th, 2008

The N96 is back, and it’s causing some stir across the space.

Vaibhav Sharma, writing on The Symbian Blog has condensed the word on the street into an easy to digest format, telling how you will soon be able to get your hands on a special edition N96 which will be individually numbered, and come in a special presentation box.

More coverage comes from the My Symbian forum, where there’s been a very positive reaction with extonix exclaiming ‘that was awesome’ after seeing the N96 star in videos over at www.facethetask.com.

Unleash the beast that is your Nseries camera

April 14th, 2008

Mike from The N82 Blog reckons the camera on the N82 has the potential to ‘make stunning images’. He gives some helpful tips on how to maximise the power of the camera by moving away from the automated settings and doing things like using the flash in daylight.

Mark Guim at The Nokia Blog has used the camera on his N95-4 to capture and upload some video footage and take some snaps. How do you think the video compares to home movies shot on camcorders?

As if all that wasn’t enough, there are yet more examples from Devin Balentina on The Nokia Guide, with more hints and tips to help you maximise the performance of the Nseries camera.

With all the helpful advice out there, Annie Leibovitz is surely a marked woman. Jump through any of the links above to have your say on how you find the performance of your Nseries camera.

Hands on with the N78 and N96

March 11th, 2008

Chaslam, from My Nokia Blog, got his hands on both the N78 and N96 briefly at the recent Nseries WOM World meet up in London. Whilst only a quick inspection took place he managed to get a general feel for the devices, enjoying the N78 and believing the N96 prototype needed a bit more work.

Jump over to his blog for his full opinion, bear in mind that these were both early prototype devices, and leave your comments or queries in his comments section.

N96: the video and TV focussed N95

February 25th, 2008

The N96 has received a thorough going-over by Rafe Blandford at All About Symbian who concludes that while it may not be a revolutionary device, the power it packs under the hood leaves it with few peers.

Rafe’s review covers all the main features of the N96, complete with pictures. This includes the general design of the hardware, the DVB-H TV functionality and other multimedia features on the device. Taking everything into account, he considers that the N96 shouldn’t be seen as the successor to the N95 but more its video and TV focussed sister device.

Proto N96 image samples and DVB-H first look

February 22nd, 2008

Mark Guim, from The Nokia Blog, has posted some images taken with the pre-production version of the N96 he had chance to look at and play with recently at the Mobile World Congress event.

He’s not overly impressed with the images from the 5MP camera, but as he rightly says the device was pre-production and so the images don’t give a clear representation of what the device will be capable of in the future. He also has this video of the device demonstrating the DVB-H TV capabilities.

N96 hands-on and battery life

February 18th, 2008

Mark Guim at The Nokia Blog has covered the N96 from all angles, quite literally, with some great shots of the device exterior.

He likes the front of the device, thinking it looks good, though is not so keen on the reverse of the N96. Mark has also covered the concerns of many users, over the 950mah battery which caused certain issues for users on the N95. With more power in the N96, Mark hopes this will not remain a problem, and has posted a video of a discussion with the N96 product manager in which he tries to allay these fears.
