MD-5W speakers and N95-4 – music to our ears?

August 20th, 2008

Mobile World Innovation’s THETRUTH has been testing out the sound quality from Nokia’s MD-5W unit paired via Bluetooth with the N95-4.

He reckons it’s a ‘match made in heaven’, and loves the ‘portability’ of the speakers, and the way they connect ‘seamlessly’ to his device. What he is also impressed with it the multi-use options available to users – he cites speaker phone, loudspeaker, and movie speakers. The wireless nature of the beasts allows them to be used anytime, any place, anywhere – to borrow a phrase from an ad from the 70s. There is a video to demonstrate them in use, which is a great place to start for someone looking for some Bluetooth speakers.

Have you used these speakers? What do think to their performance? Jump over and let THETRUTH know what you feel.

Missing Sync says hello to S60

July 30th, 2008

The space is abuzz today with news of Missing Sync, the software that allows S60 devices to be synced with Apple Macs.

Steven Sande
from tuaw.com reports that everything from contacts to texts to calendar entries will mesh, and with the ‘unique feature’ of Proximity Syncing your Mac and your device will automatically share information if they come within the required distance of each other. On Symbian Freak, Teo says users ‘won’t ever need to remember to sync again’ due to this feature, a boon for all the busy people out there for whom syncing is a once a month thing. Archiving all your calls and messages will help when you’re sorting out your billing, or just seeing when you ‘last called your Mom’.

So will you use this software? Do you think it will make your life easier? Head over to either of the sites above and share your thoughts with the guys.

Stabilize your video taken on an Nseries device

February 26th, 2008

Do you take a lot of videos on your Nseries device? James Burland over at Nokia Creative certainly does, and he’s keen to ensure they look as good as possible.

This is where stabilization comes in and, in this case, a little app (for OSX only unfortunately) called iStabilize. It can do amazing things with the footage from your Nseries device, and could just salvage holiday reels or video of nights out that you thought were just too jerky to see the light of day. As James says, wouldn’t it be great to see current stabilization options upgraded to something more like this?

Jump over to see James’ demonstration of the software, and leave any feedback or comments as the developers are keen to hear from users of Nseries devices.

Proto N96 image samples and DVB-H first look

February 22nd, 2008

Mark Guim, from The Nokia Blog, has posted some images taken with the pre-production version of the N96 he had chance to look at and play with recently at the Mobile World Congress event.

He’s not overly impressed with the images from the 5MP camera, but as he rightly says the device was pre-production and so the images don’t give a clear representation of what the device will be capable of in the future. He also has this video of the device demonstrating the DVB-H TV capabilities.
