The overall view? Well, Eric will be moving to Ovi for his image sharing needs it seems with unlimited storage a good draw. What are your thoughts? Where do your images settle down online?

The S60 Blog’s Dr. Anirudh Sharma has been considering the impact that NokiaviNe could have on a generation of mobile users, and reckons it could energise a range of different people.

He hasn’t trialled the alpha version on the N82 yet, but he has spent a lot of time talking to his friend Cj about it, and has concluded that the range of uses that the app has is sufficient to make it an outstanding addition to Nokia’s stable. Paired with Share on Ovi, it will enable users to carve their ‘own niche’ on the web, and it doesn’t eat as much battery as first feared.

What do you see the uses of NokiaviNe being? Do you agree with Ani’s empowerment thoughts? Jump over and share your thoughts.

Over on his blog Wilfrid Wong tells his readers that he has been ‘jazz[ing] up’ his life using the services offered by Ovi.

Using the Share function allows photos to be fed into a live channel which also allows friends to add their own content. Downloading music is ‘relatively painless’, and the quality was comparable to other services. What impressed Wilfrid was the ability to send an attachment that is stored on your PC when one is on the go, a ‘useful feature to have’.

Has Ovi made your life easier? What do you think of the suite of services? Head over and let Wilfrid know your thoughts.

Devin Balentina of The Nokia Guide fame has suffered a loss that Nokia power users dread – he has had the majority of his devices stolen.

Terrible in itself, and a damning indictment on the way the world is going, but think of the information that could have walked out of the door with the handsets. But what’s this? Ovi to the rescue? Yes, folks, clever Devin had the foresight to save all his pertinent details to Nokia’s servers using the Ovi Sync service, meaning his appointments, notes and contacts were safe.

Have you used the service yet? In light of Devin’s predicament, do you think it is a good idea? Jump over and let him know what you think.

Zit Seng has written on his Superwall blog that he is using Ovi to replace a host of apps that are superseded and improved on by the suite of offerings from Nokia.

‘Who needs Flickr anymore’ he says ‘when Share on Ovi gives you virtually unlimited storage’ for your snaps? The 100MB per image seems to be the only limit, a fact that Zit can live with. He also reckons that the new Sync service from Ovi will easily replace all other similar apps due to its ease of use, which he reckons is a different user experience to Apple’s MobileMe.

Do you agree with Zit that Ovi is ‘amazing’? What uses have you put the services to? Jump over and let him know.

He reckons it was ‘dead simple’, as all he did was select E71 (his current device of choice) from a drop down, and followed the instructions sent via text. All his contact, calendar and notes are now backed up on Nokia’s server. One minor gripe is the fact that Ovi as it stands won’t sync with Outlook, Google Calendar or other non-Nokia apps and services.

She recognises that users want to check email on the move and then delete messages from both the device and the server at the same time. But she wants to be able to get rid of them on her handset, and check them later. She says Nokia Email gives users and ease of set up, no hidden fees and the enhancement of the device’s capabilities. She likes the way the service is heading, and is looking forward to future developments.

Complete with screen shots and clear instructions, Cj walks us through the new Ovi Sync service. He says that by utilising Sync, users can back up all the information from their device (by using a data connection such as WiFi), then retrieve it when necessary (in the event of a lost handset for example) with no need for your own PC to be involved. He concludes by saying that the service is a really ‘useful feature’.
