Nokia 6220 camera test – video

October 7th, 2008

MedionMackaN has posted on YouTube showing the video capabilities of the Nokia 6220 Classic’s camera in action.

Toting the same 5MP Carl Zeiss camera unit as the N95 8GB, the 6220 is shown by MedionMackaN in a low lit environment. He then demonstrates moving from high to low contrast light areas as well as zooming in on his PC monitor to show how well the 6220 copes with the transitions. Much-vaunted as coming to the N96, iPlayer actually works (in the UK) on other devices too. James walks us through the process of finding and playing a show, and whilst he says it wouldn’t be great for watching all the time, it is great for ‘catching the odd show’.

N78 in the eyes of Money Savers

October 2nd, 2008

An interesting thread on the Money Saving Expert forum is developing around the N78, and whether it should be considered instead of the N95.

The Original Poster – PatelA – asks for advice as he is considering replacing the N95 and its ‘horrendous’ battery. lapchien says he has made the switch and doesn’t have ‘any regrets’, especially due to the ‘vastly improved’ battery life. lovelynikki agrees, reckoning the device is a ‘fully featured multimedia computer’.

Would you switch from the N95 to the N78? Take a look at this hands on video to see if the device is everything you want it to be? Then jump over and join the forum discussion.

September 16th, 2008

Well, it’s been a couple of days since Nokia Open Lab 2008 ended and the attendees have started to reflect on what they got out of the event.

Steve Lawson, aka solobasssteve has written up some of his first impressions on his blog which should whet your appetite for what else he has to say in the near future. There’ll surely be plenty more news, views and general insights from the event in the coming days, but for the mean time here’s CT Moore from Gypsy Bandito and Phil Campbell of me.dm with their closing thoughts while still on Finnish soil.

MD-5W speakers and N95-4 – music to our ears?

August 20th, 2008

Mobile World Innovation’s THETRUTH has been testing out the sound quality from Nokia’s MD-5W unit paired via Bluetooth with the N95-4.

He reckons it’s a ‘match made in heaven’, and loves the ‘portability’ of the speakers, and the way they connect ‘seamlessly’ to his device. What he is also impressed with it the multi-use options available to users – he cites speaker phone, loudspeaker, and movie speakers. The wireless nature of the beasts allows them to be used anytime, any place, anywhere – to borrow a phrase from an ad from the 70s. There is a video to demonstrate them in use, which is a great place to start for someone looking for some Bluetooth speakers.

Have you used these speakers? What do think to their performance? Jump over and let THETRUTH know what you feel.

N810 MiniSD slot troubles

August 13th, 2008

Over on YouTube, burnte has posted a video showing how he struggles with the memory card slot on his tablet.

He professes his love for the N810, and makes it clear that he loves the device, but runs into problems when using the card slot. In his demo, he shows how the slot is exposed by removing the cover (on its rubber ‘doohicky’) and how it easily accepts the card. The problem, he has found, is in removing it once it has served its purpose. The spring only releases a card so far, and as he has ‘human-sized fingers’, burnte has trouble grabbing it, having to resort to tweezers.

Do you have similar issues? Or can your fingers grab the ejected card? Have you come up with any solutions to the issue?
